I went to my local Walmart yesterday in hopes of ordering there store brand cleaning bleach by the case because they never have more then two or three gallons on the shelf at a time. They said they can’t keep it on the shelf and they don’t have the pool bleach ether. But they told me they could not and would not order me the amount I wanted for me to pick when it came in. Did not want others to see them selling me that much at a time (20 gallons at least is what I wanted ). And that I would just have come in everyday to get what I needed. A couple of weeks ago I was able to get 10 gallons for when I was doing a slam and the checker had to get permission from the manager to ring it up. Manager said this is a one time thing and you can get thee pool pucks from now on like you are supposed to use. The next closest Walmart is 30 miles away. We have no pool store with in 50 that I know of and know one will sell LC in bulk. So I guess I will just the whole family in and get LC one gal at a time.

Wow... I have bought maybe 10 gallons of bleach at my Wal-Mart without issues. Have you tried discussing this with the manager of the particular location? Otherwise I would suggest finding an alternative source.

That's odd. Walmart orders the 1 gallon cleaning bleach for me. I get order 3-4 days ahead and then go pick it up. $1.77/gal for 6%. I'd complain. Did you offer to pay first? I bet that this is an employee problem. It works for me. You have to get a manager level person to order it. The normal cashier can't.
No I have not trued on line ordering but I will. I did talk to a floor manager no help I asked for the manager but they never came to talk to me waited 45 minutes no show
Bleach can be used to make meth; I'm going to guess that's why they're being cagey about selling it to you in bulk.
Do you have a home depot or lowes close ish? They usually have the 12.5% "liquid shock" in stock in my area.

Sounds to me like a walmart employee is trying to tell you the proper way to care for your pool. "pucks like you're supposed to use"!
Have not been to Lowe’s yet that’s 30 miles away. I live in a very rural area. But may have to make the drive. And yes according to her I’m doing it all wrong she would not swim in my pool lol. I used to use pool store stuff until I found this site and I now have the best pool I’ve ever seen and it take me p min a day not 2 hours. I’ll stick to what I’ve been doing. Thanks everyone
That is crazy. When I started reading it I said, this person must be in Cali, but low and behold, you're in Miss. I'd have never thought that would be a problem there.
It's almost certainly because the local LEOs told them to limit sales. Meth. They've limited lye sales drastically so now people are using bleach.
Have you checked the dollar store? They usually have plain bleach as well. Might not be a high concentration but it will be cheap!

Wow, Ocean Odd Lot in NJ, CT, and I believe NY will sell you what you want. I have friends who stock up 15-20 cases at a time (4 gallons of 12.5%) in each case. This past week, I opened up a pool to a green mess. Called them up, and not only did they have powdered stabilizer up front, but 15 cases. Unfortunately they had to purchase one of the less expensive CL/PH kits for now as they will be borrowing the other friends TF-100, but they will have one ready for next season.
Other option is to go in with different members of the family and everyone purchases certain items, plus 3-4 gallons of bleach. Showing a picture of your pool and speaking with a manager may help as well in purchasing more at a time. At the local Wal-Mart, I doubt they would give trouble, but the shelves seem very limited as well on bleach for some strange reason.
I can not believe that now bleach is being used. A long time ago there was a Tylenol Sinus medicine (worked better than prescriptions), which now you need a driver's license just to purchase one box (and definitely not the same thing). The best thing they can do is outlaw (3" tablets) as they do more harm. LOL

The price is $5.00 + Tax, which seems pretty steep. For this amount, you may consider converting to an SWG budget permitting. Be very careful with dollar store bleach as to check the Julian date. Most dollar stores carry very old bleach.
Make sure you check the percentage on the bottle as well.... I found our local dollar store to be selling stuff that's even sub 6% and IIRC it wasn't even a full gallon.
The funny part about Wal-Mart is that they usually carry the Pool Life chlorinating liquid which IIRC is 10% and they carry it in the 2 gallon packs (and probably just single gallons as well). If you read the label, it's no different than ordinary cleaning bleach. If they won't sell you multiple gallons of the cleaning bleach on the grounds that you can make meth with it, then by that thought process they shouldn't sell you large quantities of the chlorinating liquid either, as it's exactly the same thing.
Don't point it out to them though... the geniuses will likely refuse to sell you large amounts of the pool life liquid after wards. Just buy the "right stuff" and be done with it. You might pay a titch more, but consider your getting 10% stuff vs 6%. Last year my own local hardware / grocery store was selling bleach at 1.29 a gallon for 6% and cranked it up to $2.09 a gallon this year. I go back to the hardware section and find "Austin's" brand liquid pool shock... $3.99 a gallon for %12.5 so I won't argue. Not as good of a deal, but I effectively have to carry half the amount of bottles and have half the amount of trash to throw away.

Just to get it out there, I ordered 20 gallons of the pool chlorine at Wal-Mart via the web for pickup today, nary a glitch. Website didn't warn about excess purchasing, no trouble at pickup. Also got a bag of baking soda.
The guy who loaded it asked if I had a pool, I said sure do. "TFP?" he asked. " You bet! " I said. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up.
This was at the Bremen Wal-Mart.

I suspect there maybe some distribution issues causing a limit for the OP. The fact the store can’t keep any in stock points to an issue and possibly a spike in purchases. My gut says maybe they placed a temporary limit so they can serve all customers and not a few who buy it all.
