Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

That’s weird. The H-E-B bleach I have says 8.25 but it isn’t getting me to where it should when I add it. Wonder if there a way to test it.
Should be at least 8% if it's less than a month. I'm guessing it'll be 6% as soon as they run out. The new jugs are slightly different colors.

You could use PoolMath to "hypothetically" check by using the "effects of adding chemicals" with different chlorine levels against how much you *have* added (and what you think the FC should have done as a result). The app will let you go down to 5.25%

If only...and not just for chlorine! I love HEB but the only ones near DFW are in Burleson, Waxahachie, Cleburne, and Stephenville. That is nearly an hour from me in north DFW without traffic. Years ago there used to be one in Plano near my work but it is long gone for 15 years or more. It is a shame because there is so much I like about what they stock, their quality, and prices. Whataburger Spicy Ketchup!!!

Had a friend that used to live in Waxahachie and when I would visit her, we would always pop in to the HEB so I could grab some things. But just too far for any regular grocery shopping...or chlorine.
Well, I'm hearing disapointing news about HEB's Bravo bleach that has been my go-to product for years. It had always been $2.94 a gallon for their 8.25% strength. You may recall a couple years ago Walmart changed their laundry bleach from 8.25% down to 6% strength. I'm hearing that HEB did the same with their Bravo bleach - 6%. That's what I'm hearing up in Austin. Here in S.A. the shelves have been bare for about 3 weeks pending receipt of the new stock. If they did in-fact lower their strength to 6%, I'll be looking elsewhere.

Today I made note of the following here in the San Antonio area:
- Home Depot: 3-pack (gallons) of HDX pool chlorine is $9.98 at 10% strength
- Walmart: Great Value laundry bleach: $2.67 per gallon of 6% strength
- Walmart: Pool Essentials chlorine: $3.64 per gallon at 10% strength
- Leslies Pools: 4-pack of Liquid Shock chlorine is $22.00 at 10% strength
- HEB: Regular Bravo $2.67 per gallon ay 6% strength (?)

Guys I can confirm HEB is how 5.25 percent. The website says 8.25 but the bottle I purchased showed no percentage. I know it’s new stock because I bought everything they had one day and went back 2 days later when the shelf was full again and got more.

I added one 121oz bottle to my pool and FC went up exactly what pool math says for 5.25 percent. This sucks I bought 8 bottles of it based off of the website. Looks like it’s HD or some other source for me.

Buy 4 cases at HD, makes it $3/g. That's way better than HEB was at 8.25%. You get 5% more at 21% more strength. Also, odd, my Bravo is labeled 6.25%.

That’s what I have bravo concentrated. Says 8.25 online but nothing on the bottle. The only thing that worries me about HD is a lot of them have the pool chemicals outdoors in the garden section. You don’t think the Texas heat will degrade it ?

Certainly a possibility if it's been out there for a while. The stack I looked at yesterday had 3-pk boxes that looked fairly new, and others that looked like they were ran over by a truck. Might also have to try and look at the dates on the bottles.

How long would you all think chlorine stored in a dark cool room (in my basement) would be good for. The only HD carrying the HDX 3-pack is ~ 45 minutes away. I'd like to grab a bunch of it for the season (so I don't have to go back and in case they run out - they did last year early!). Think it would keep keep from degrading for 2-3 months?

As long as it's not stored near anything warm (water heater, dryer, furnace) I've used mine for 2 seasons (tiny pool).

A few years ago I bought my usual spring stock of chlorine during a BOGO sale which I also store in my basement then decided my pool needed a refurbishment so didn't have a chance to use most of it until the following year.

I didn't notice any significant change in the amount needed to keep my levels where they needed to be.

Of course YMMV

Pinch a Penny Pool just opened a location in McKinney, TX. They sell a 2.5 gallon liquid chlorinator for about $15, then you can refill it from their tank for $7.88 (this weekend starting on the 4th they have a sale for 10% off each). I asked about the strength...they told me it's labeled as 10.5%, but its actually about 12% (not sure about that).

Plano has a Pinch-a-Penny now open at NE corner of Independence and Legacy. Same deal as noted by Cody.
