Pool build - Southwest FL - Tampa

Those pics look like a magazine shoot! SO pretty! You get to come to that every day??? SWEET!

???what in the world is that?? Now this will be gross but use a turkey baster to suck some up. Squirt it out onto a white paper towel and let it dry. Will be interesting to see what color it ends up being and if it smells.

I'll have to stop at a Dollar store to get a throw away turkey baster - I tried to get some in a pool store water test bottle and any attempt to get some in a bottle caused it to break up and spread. So I grabbed my pool vac and sucked it into the filter ;(

Add the Pool's turkey baster to the pool stuff box. You never know when you will want to use it. Go ahead and get a toothbrush for the pool as well :)shock: she has LOST her mind now!!! A toothbrush for the pool???) this is good to brush around the returns and inside the skimmer about once a month.

Great thinking Kim! I change out my “travel toothbrush” after every trip and keep the ‘used one for cleaning things - I now have one just for the pool!

I hope there’s no surprise for me tomorrow but I now have two cameras on the spot and a siphon mechanism just in case.

What a beautiful pool, deck and I love the shed!

One suggestion for your next umbrella is to get a bar height umbrella made for tall tables. They come with the standard bottom pole and the extended one to give you more height under the umbrella, which is great for use with an umbrella sleeve in a sun shelf. The few inches they add make a difference. You may also be able to find a matching extension pole, depending on the brand of umbrella you have.

Jean, THANK YOU for the information about bar height umbrellas!! I have been looking for a way to raise this one up!! Also, thank you for the compliments - given the small yard we have and historical nature of the home (and original shed that was in the same location), we knew we MUST get that original shed replaced by ‘Historic Sheds’. Long wait for them to build it, and certainly more expensive than a ‘Tuff Shed’ - but the build quality is amazing and it matches the home perfectly.

I am really curious about that scat (is underwater poop called scat?) We have huge Colorado River Toads that leave dog/cat sized logs on our walk every night this time of year. They also poop in the dog water dish outside (it becomes their dish in summer, the pets have other sources inside) so I was thinking it might be a large frog or salamander. But my experience is lots of readily identifiable beetle and other insect parts. That almost looks like sand. Do you have gigantic earthworms in your area? LOL

I am leaning more to a snake, but again the "texture" doesn't look quite right. Trying to thing what animals like to poop in water. I know cows will do it, but the color, texture, and volume is all wrong there. Also you probably would notice them in the security videos.

I am with Kim, dry some out on a piece of paper towel and poke it with a stick. We need more info! :D

Oh, nice pool too.

I wish I had video of anything besides cats drinking at the deep end - carefully hanging their heads over the edge without falling in.

That's OK, I'm bored and would still watch cat-drinking-from-pool video!! ;)

Keep up the vigilance. He'll be back...

He/She hasn't been back...we went back to enjoying the pool after 10 days of vigilance. I changed the filter cartridge - but didn't drain/scrub the actual pool. If 10 days of "mustard shock" level chlorine didn't kill whatever was in the water - well - maybe I won't live to see 100. At least I am able to enjoy pool life again.
