To the “roll on spray”, mentioned above I watched a dealer loose his shirt to application and adhesion problems.
& another get in and out of one in 3 months.

- to be fair, I can’t vouch for their technique or intellect.

I can't vouch for my own intellect most days and when I read through the technical application guide I was like ... NOPE! :gone:

There's a reason why plaster, fiberglass and vinyl are still used to this day.....
 
I’ve noticed your well trained mind.
If you struggled with the instructions, they must be a nightmare.

In the spirit of your reply, I just told a friend if bison, venison & other game meats were actually delicious , cows wouldn’t get all the shelf space.

Hi Brian - I’’ve been away from TFP for many months. Has your opinion of Aquabright changed? If so, why? Our pool renovation has been delayed, but we hope to have our Aquabright installed by mid-May. These last few posts have me worried. Is there something I should know??

Your pool still isn't done!?!?

Nothing has changed with me in regards to EcoFinish. I'm installing it on one of my builds tomorrow.
 
For whatever it's worth, I talked to the superintendent of my dig Saturday and asked him if they had any problems with the AB. He said that when they first started applying it, they had problems at close to 250 pools! He said they have the hang of it now and rarely run into problems with it, but they apparently had to eat a bunch of repair costs a couple years ago.
 
Hello AmyJo. I haven't seen you here lately. Last year you gave me Aquabright installer Tony's phone number. I had the Aquabright installed in August. So far it's looking good, although its only been a few months.

Nope. We had to rip up most of the tile and start over. Long story. [emoji85] But tile started again today and almost all installed! Will let it cure for 30 days, then plaster, then ECOFINISH! [emoji119]

Hi Kekin! I’ve been so depressed at the state of our pool that I couldn’t even read about nice ones. We finally hired Tony’s tile guy to correct our bad tile job. He’s amazing!

SO glad you’re pleased with Tony’s work. He’s been one of the best contractors ever. Thank you for saying hello! So happy about your pretty “new” pool. [emoji4]
 
I had the aquabrite ecofinish added on new plaster without any issues. When they did it however they had to fill the pool up post-plaster and let it sit for about a week, then drain it to apply the ecofinish. They said if you put it over the plaster immediately the ecofinish will chip off.

I opened up the pool this spring after last summers EcoFinish install and all still looks well. The tile line of course is still crooked but oh well, we never paid contractor final $2k and he seems to have "accepted" that as we never heard back from him
 
Thanks to everyone for your insight and input. We are in the process of choosing a pool company to install a new pool and one of the companies offers Aqua Bright. We are intrigued, but weary. From what I can tell, the product is great, but there can be problems if the installation isn't done correctly. How do I ensure that my builder is qualified to install it properly? How do I protect myself from builder error if the Aqua Bright warranty doesn't cover that?

Hi Courtney! Not sure if you're talking about Grapevine Tx, but if you are I live near you and talked to both of the PB's in the metroplex who do Aquabright. My installer had done hundreds of Aquabright pools and I would be glad to give you their name if you would like. Both builders had solid reputations and a few years experience when I started looking nearly 2 years ago, so both are good, reputable companies. One of the things I did is call pool maintenance companies (not builders) and asked them for recommendations and for their opinions on builders. The maintenance companies see lots of pools and generally know which builders do shoddy work.
 
Thanks! Yes, Grapevine, TX. I've checked references and they're all good. The one we have an estimate from has been doing Aqua Bright for 3 years (Puryear). I'm not sure who the other one in the area is. I've gotten 6 quotes, so looking to make a decision soon. Just not convinced Aqua Bright is the way to go (I'm risk-averse...). @benm2010 who did you end up using and did you get Aqua Bright? how long ago? Any issues?

I used Puryear. Gold Medal near frisco was the other installer that did them around that time. I’m also risk adverse and researched aquabright a lot. Called installers across the country and Texas. It seems to be a great product and Puryear installs a lot of pools with it. We’re getting our aquabright put in (hopefully) within a week or so. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me with them.
 
Has anyone used the AquaBrite installer in Phoenix area, CDC pools? (they are actually in Chandler) I am particularly interested in their quality and how they stand behind their job. You can private post me if you like. I am starting to research and get ideas and spent several hours of my 4th of july reading TFP posts instead of being in my Pool! AquaBrite looks like something I am interested in.
 
I talked to the only authorized EcoFinish AquaBrite pool installer in Arizona today, CDC pools in Chandler. They down sold the AquaBrite product, told me it was really only for folks wanting a smoother surface and that AquaBrite held up as well as their exposed aggregate finish with the same warranty. When I pressed him on specifics of the AquaBrite product and process, the sales man told me he had no idea on details and refused to offer to follow up and walked away. I couldn't get a general idea from them on how much more the AquaBrite would be per square foot assuming the same prep, chip out etc as pebble. I am guessing their profit margins are not there with the AquaBrite finish, and the commissioned sales people really didn't care about selling it at all. I left there not sure I wanted the AquaBrite at all now. A little more research and I found where the AquaBrite product originally comes from for those like me who thrive on the details. What? That is rude and very unprofessional! I wonder what the owner of the company would have to say about his sells person not even trying to sell the procedure that he paid quite a bit of money, time, and effort to get!!!!
