Intex Saltwater system

Works just fine for a very inexpensive no-frills salt water system. Your only options on it is the number of hours you want it to run per 24 hours, that's it. No percentages, no half-hour adjustments, no running at different times of the day, just ultra-basic.

That ECO system is a copper ionizer on it though. At the very least you want to disconnect the power to that (a very simple process) and possibly remove the copper rods as well (not quite as easy). Don't leave that running on it.

Proper chlorination kills algae just fine. There is no reason to add a metal to your water that will cause staining and green hair as long as you are properly maintaining your pool.

Do a search on copper stains (upper right corner) and see all the many, many folks spending lots of time and money tying to remove copper stains from their pools and draining their pools to remove copper from the water. The pool industry is doing a real disservice to people with all these copper products.

I think you are mistaken. The ECO system does not use copper, unlike the older Intex swg used to. It uses a titanium electrode that should be left connected.
