Would appreciate any insight into identifying this equipment. There's an Aqualink unit with a remote control not really pictured. Eventual goal is to better understand how to run everything. An area of particular concern is how the spa overflow impacts filter and heat pump operation. Another is how to get the heat pump to communicate with the Aqualink. I currently have to manually adjust the temp which defeats the purpose of a remote.

But for now, this is what's installed...

Heat Pump- Aquacal Heatwave Super Quiet (thought I had a pic but can't find it). Not sure of the size.

Back-up Heater- no close pic up but there's a back-up electric heater so we can use the spa in the dead of winter. We get some freezes here.

Why not add a pic of the pool? Only one of the 2 yellow labs who most often frequent it are shown....

Is this a new pool or a used pool you just took over?

Some things that I noticed...

1. You have a Nature 2 system. If the kind I'm thinking about it has cartridges that put minerals in your pool water. Something we advise against.

2. The spill over should be controlled by your automation system. The automation system should have the ability to run in the Pool only mode, Spa only Mode, or what you have in your pictures the Spillover mode.

3. You have a variable speed pump which is great.

4. You have a booster pump. This requires you to run both your booster pump and your main pump to clean your pool. Does away with the purpose of having an economical variable speed pump in the first place.

5. You have a cartridge filter..

Since the pool isn't even a year old, I would try to contact builder and see if they would come and go through everything with you. Good Luck

This is a newly built pool, last summer. It seems the PB did a great job building the pool (from the little I know) but they do an awful job of explaining how to operate. I've basically given up on getting info out of them but thanks to this site I have a better understanding and might be able to retain more of what they say now. They told me the AquaCal heat pump can't communicate with the Aqualink but AquaCal's website contradicts that so I have little interest in wasting time with them at this point.

1. Nature 2...I used to drop pucks in one side but am using bleach now. Now that you mention it I've never unscrewed the orange cap to see what's going on there. Pucks were only used for 5-6 months and CYA is 60, CH is 400-450. It was filled with trucked in city water of unknown quality. Wish those numbers were lower. Would there be some sort of mineral cartridge under the orange cap?

2. The spillover disables in spa mode but runs in pool mode. One of the few things I recall from the PB's demo was how to adjust the rate in when in pool mode. I need to check the controller to see what the other modes are.

3. I've read about people adjusting their pump rpm, hope I can take advantage. But, at whatever the preset rpm is it hasn't made a terribly noticeable impact on our elec bill.

4. Boo, how to take advantage of the variable?...ditch the booster pump?

5. Cartridge filter so not DE or sand?

Thank you, kadavis. I'll check out that link. Please see above for why getting info from the PB isn't an effective use of time. Plus, they advised to use pucks. The kind folks here seem to have much more knowledge.

....hmm, not sure how to answer. There's the remote control which is used to program whatever timers as well as manually controlling pool lights, etc. There are manual switches on the Aqualink for the various pumps, lights and modes as well. Does that help for what you're asking?

Under the orange cap is the mineral cartridge. Suggest you remove it if possible. If not, then make sure you never replace it with a new one.

You might not like your pool builder, but I would have to believe he has at least a few employees that have a clue about what they are doing. I highly recommend that you "pay" one of his guys, or someone in Austin, to come by and provide you with some in-depth training on your pool, how it operates, what you need to do to take care of it, and how to program or use all the automation. In the long run it will be much less frustration than attempting to do it on your own, even with the help of this site.

How about a pic of the gray box that is between the heater output and your Fusion System.. I have no clue as to what this is...???

I hear ya, Jim. My pops suggested I pay someone to do a better pool school, too. It's def a steep learning curve and daunting.

Does the Nature 2 unit qualify as a SWG? The manual linked above talks about salt but I didn't see SWG referenced anywhere. That would be nice.

The grey box is the supplemental electric heater. Not much to see other than a heat level dial. I'll get a pic when I get one of the valves.

I'm not up on my Jandy equipment, but I believe it is. See if you can find a specific P/N and we can make sure.

If the controls are inside house its probably the one touch control. When you visit the Jandy website you can download a manual for that also, this will help you program times and speeds for your pump. You can also enable the heat pump if it's connected

Looking at the picture again I see that iaqualink antenna on top of control system. This gives you web enabled control from all sorts of devices
