Hot tub layout is terrible what can I do?

So we bought I house with a pool and a built-in stand alone hot tub. If that's sounds odd to you that's because it is. They installed the hot tub so the water level is the same height as the pool. But that means it's very difficult to get into. Also there is no access to parts of the controls and taking the lid off is a huge pain and is ruining it. Ive thought of lifting the tub out, filing in the space, and dropping it back in place at a new height. installing grab rails so we don't slip going in. I like the first idea better. It would very pricey tho, still worth it. What do you guys think?

It doesn't look level either. I don't know how you would lift up the hot tub without taking apart the screen enclosure. Maybe install one of those cover lifters and add a little bench and grab bar to the side to help ease yourself in. Whoever designed that set up did not do anyone any favors!

Is there enough room for a cover lifter? I thought they lifted them to the back side and there is hardly any room between the screen. Also the edge is slanted it has a cascade front (where the pool is). Your right when we first saw the house we were thinking how neat it was. Now that we've used it it's such a pain. I love being in the hot tub but normally I just fold half the lid over.

The good news is, you have a very nice screen enclosure
The HT is nice also. It would be great on a raised wooden deck IMO. Not necessarily as high as the pool deck. Maybe some nice redwood

Why not just keep it uncovered. Or buy a solar cover for thirty dollars or so which is a very light cover that you cut to fit the size of the hottub

There are cover lifters that work in limited space (I have one as my hot tub sits aprox 6" away from my screened in porch) It opens up so that the cover is in that small space between hot tub and screen. CoverMate I Spa Cover Lifter | SpaDepot.com

I guess I was under the impression it would cost more to heat it without the lid. I've never heard of what your talking about. Would it cost more in heating? I'm thinking of a low profile lift.

I don't know how much more the heating cost would be without a cover. The light solar cover I mentioned would be better than no cover but would let more heat out than a thicker cover. I suspect the additional heating costs with that light solar cover would not be material but someone with more technical knowledge will need to chime in.

Agreed, a solar cover is a lot better than no cover at all but would not be as efficient as a regular tub cover.
