Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I have an above ground pool. Would this be too much of a pool cleaner for an above ground? I had purchased the Pool Rover 10 years ago and loved it. It finally broke and I bought a replacement two years ago and it just isn't the same. It doesn't pick up dirt like the old one did. It just moves the dirt around the pool and I must also say that I hate cleaning the filter bag.

Thanks.

If you are interested in the newer S style of cleaner, then probably the smaller Dolphin E10 model or the Doheny Saturn would fit the bill and are cheaper than this large Discovery model. Not to mention, they both have the top access basket and can be purchased for $429 or $549 at Doheny.

Thank you! I will look into those two models - spending less will be ideal:cool:.

So my new Power Supply arrived today and all is well again. Plugged it in, fired right up and now The Tank is about an hour into a cleaning cycle. I'll try to take the older unit apart tomorrow.

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Glad to hear you received it and it's working. Mine has cleaned the pool twice now. Picked up sand from the bottom that I couldn't see was there before. "Little Joe" climbed the walls and even cleaned the swimouts. But won't climb up on the sun ledges, I placed it there and it shut off. There must be a switch that shuts it down in shallow water. The sun ledges are only about 8" deep.

Looking forward to hearing about the innards of the power supply for future reference.

Funny, our sun shelf is 12" or so deep and the robot will go up there, but it will shoot a fountain a foot or so from the top booster. First time I put it in the water,I started it on the Baja shelf. It proceeded to back up and launch water onto the deck. Hasn't really done since the first time. Also, found the robot stuck on its back yesterday, which kinda worried me a little. I was able to review my cameras and saw that at the end of the 2 hour cycle it was at the waterline. With the end of cycle and no power, it just sank to the bottom of the wall and on to its back, so no issues.

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Ran mine for the second time yesterday. When finished it ended upright in the same spot getting ready to climb the wall as the first time I used it. Did not see it stop so don't know if it was climbing the wall when it stopped.

Could not reach to lift it out so used my pool brush & pole to grab it under the handle. Lifted it near the surface and then was able to grab it with my hand and tilt to let the water out. Anyone know of a small hook to fit extension pole? all I found searching are expensive rescue lanyard type hooks.

Okay.... I was exploring a robot and figured why not.... New pool doesn't have a cleaner and I stopped the pool service.. I was gong to plumb and retrofit a new booster system, but there a cost to all of that work etc... I love my Polaris 380, but it's staying wth my old pool. New pool = new toy!!
Ordered mine tonight, $649 plus tax to FL. I'm excited and appreciate the thread it help me make it happen. Not to mention, I preferred the colors on this unit over the others...
I'll keep you current on my feedback :)

You're meant to use the cord to pull it to the surface and then reach in to grab the handle.

Looking forward to hearing how you like the robot cleaner as compared to your Polaris 380. I'm happy and think you will be too.

I too appreciate this thread and the other Threads on Robot Cleaners and the Discovery that made it happen for me.

Thanks, I'm hesitant to pull by the cord but it probably would be ok under the surface.

Can't really find anything wrong through a visual inspection, so I'm passing it on to a buddy with an oscilloscope to see if he can fix it. If it can be fixed, I'll keep it as a spare.

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

We named him POOL-DOZER!!!

It was was very much plug and play... Ran great did a great job of picking up leaves, nuts, and DE!! Climbed walls and scrubbed the tile and powerful jets... I can see how this could really clean and polish the water.

I walked away and let the Pooldozer go to work... About 30min later I returned to the pool and it was stuck on the ledge. I assume it shut itself down. I emptied the basket another awesome feature... Returned it to the pool let it sink to bottom and resumed power. It would only move 2-3 ft and stop. Turn off LED on machine all the while the power indicators remained on. I'm very much open to the being 110% user error.... At this point I can reboot and get only 2-3rr per power cycle. I tried it a total of 3 times over an hour and thought I need to research..... I checked the tracks scrubbers the impeller and the overall cleaner - can see a physical reason it won't go...

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Ha.... I guess I just was pushing too many buttons over and over....

Today the pool was full of leaves and you name it - POOL-DOZER scooped them up. I noticed the water level was low - filled pool and hasn't gotten stuck on the shelf... Makes sense to me.

Post pics when I can today - I'm between the houses/pools today. Feeling real good about this purchase!!!

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

These are from the first run... Had a bad manifold leak a bunch of DE back in the pool. This is the basic screen, not the filtration filter. My wife was eager to empty Pooldozer on Sunday and dumped a huge mess of leaves etc.... This thing is doing a fine job!!

A full shot of the screen basket may have been helpful - didn't think of that...

I've been using the pleated filter but the basic screen looks like it does an even better job. Might be the DE powder that it picked up.

Which filter is best to use? The more expensive Dolphin S300 models have a different basket that holds BOTH filters.

Re: Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

looking at this one vs the Maytronics s200, does the Doheny have Bluetooth remote capability like the Maytronics?

Nevermind, I think I was reading the wrong description. So what is the LED on the Doheny?
