I have a 10,000 gal IG that I want to close this fall myself. It doesn't have a main drain, but does have a water fall that is about 3' above the water line that will need to be blown out. I have a Ridgid 4hp shop vac and I'm wondering if this will be enough? I have also seen some links to a Balboa Mighty Vac and also a Cyclone 3HP blower. I don't know much about blowers, but it would seem on the surface that my 4HP shop vac is more powerful that the other two....

I use that cyclone vac myself. I can't say if it's stronger than your shopvac, but it does it's job well. If using a shopvac I always recommend using some pool antifreeze

Since you don't have a main drain, your probably fine with the shop vac.

Ok, thanks guy's. I'm going to try a "dry run" next week when I get a few days off and try and see if my shop vac will blow the waterfall out before I actually have to close for the winter, that way I still have time to get something if the shop vac doesn't work.
Cheers.....
