CSI gives you a suggestion of what effect the water will have on plaster and on how likely calcium scaling is. 99% of the time you don't need to think about it at all. It is most useful in arid areas with high CH fill water, where you need to manage you levels carefully to prevent calcium scaling at very high CH levels.
