New Pool Build in north DFW - Keller (pic heavy)

We recently built a pool in DFW and I wanted to share the process and pictures with the forum that has been so helpful to me. Overall, due mostly to weather delays and some communication issues with the PB, it took just over 5 months to complete.

It all started with 4 bids and 4 wildly differing ideas. We ultimately choose this one.

After drawing it on the yard, we knew we'd have to remove several trees. But seeing the lines started to make everything seem like a reality.

The tractors are always fun to watch, but I admit I expected to see something a little bigger doing the dig given they had a lot of room to bring equipment in.

Street was lined with dump trucks at one point.

The rebar and plumbing were pretty quick, done in just a couple days.

But we hit some rain delays and had to put a tent over it so the walls wouldn't cave.

    Equipment set.

The gunite crew showed up very early to get started. My neighbors surely loved it.

Tile and coping showed up before the first of three snowfalls hit DFW (snow, then ice, then snow).

So we sat and watched 3 weeks go by without anyone coming by to do any work. It was painful.

But soon we were playing with the paint again and happy to start seeing some progress.

    Flower beds going in.

    And of course more rain.

Finally, something to get excited about. A break in the weather and the plaster crew showed up.

But I'll be darned if a pop-up storm didn't hit just moments before they were finished. The pool was lost and they'd have to start again.

This time, the weather cooperated and we were able to finish things up properly.

    Time to fill!

    And finally time to enjoy.

Wow! It is beautiful. It may have taken 5 months, but at least it was winter months. Are you loving it?!? The time lapse of the water fill is great, that is such a fun time.

We got most of the outdoor furniture from Nebraska Furniture Mart - that place is awesome. We're happy everything came together before summer hit. The pool has been great so far.

What a story!! I love these 'instant' pool builds. It's like binge watching a TV series on Netflix! Everything is fabulous! You guys must be thrilled.

What color is your finish? I love the water color. And is that a sitting area on top of the waterfall/grotto? So very cool! Thanks for sharing it all with us!

Take care and have a great summer! Suz.

Hi Suz - it's a Midnight Blue color in the mini-stonescape product. We also opt'd for the abolone shell to bring a little sparkle to the pool, which gets tons of compliments. And yes, we have a stone staircase on the back of the grotto that we can climb up to get on top. It's quite the jumping stone!

Very nice and thanks for the photos. What was done to prevent more surface water from going into the pool in the next big rain?

Ultimately the sod was the biggest factor. But we also put plastic landscape edging to channel the water in the direction we wanted it and cleared the drains on the pool deck. We've had a couple really good downpours recently and luckily we haven't had any problems.

Delays are never pleasant, raining after the plaster must have felt horrible. Good thing it's all behind you now and all you have to do is enjoy that beautiful pool.

Looks great. I also appreciate that you shared the issue with the plaster. A lot of people find this site because something has gone "wrong" or isn't right with their pool. This is a good story of how it can all work out in the end!

It rained before they finished. The basic rule is that you need a very minimum of 1 hour with no precipitation after they have completely finished the plaster. They knew they couldn't save it, so they just packed up, left and were able to do it again just a couple days later. In theory, it should be stronger now with two layers on the bulk of the pool. We shall see
