TV and Music Poolside -- Need help Swamp Rabbit

Hello Friends,
I want to be able to hear my outdoor kitchen tv from the pool, without deafening the people closer to the tv. Im interested some kind of speaker set up, but know nothing about this. I also want to set up some kind of music setup. Im looking for ideas on what I should purchase.

What is your TV source? Antenna or Cable/Satellite? Do you have a receiver/amp and speakers?

DirecTV box is my source. Dont have a receiver, an amp, or speakers; though Im willing to purchase. Music would be a plus.

Any amp/speaker solution will work, but I would suggest a SONOS CONNECT:AMP. Run audio out from the DirecTV receiver to the AMP and then out to wired/wireless speakers from the SONOS to your pool deck. Volume on the Sonos is independent of the volume indoors.

With the Sonos App, you can also drive any music you may already own (iTunes) want out to the pool, including many free internet radio sources (Radio Margaritaville, Pandora, Spotify, etc.

uhh... I vote for the Sonos system. Less "B6-HD-1 High Speed Licensed HDMI Cables" you'll have to buy.

+1 on sonos.

We have the playbar and directv in the living room which puts tv sound into the sonos home network/boost and can be rebroadcast on all Sonos speakers in our system inside and out. Or you can play the same music on all speakers or different music on each speaker. All over wifi and controlled from an app on your phone, tab, pad. Pandora, slacker, google play, whatever. It is great!

Sonos is nice if you don't mind spending several hundred dollars. You can set up a remote controlled music system for a lot less if you're willing to do a little work.

The eternal equation: initial cost vs. opportunity cost.

Not to be too presumptuous, but... if you have to ask what can/could be done, you're probably not the guy that's going to home brew an HDMI -> wireless gateway solution. Get the Sonos, hook it up in 5 min, spend the rest of the weekend enjoying it.

eh, not really. I posted in the other outdoor music thread about the basics you need to set a up a cheap wifi controlled music system and the average housewife can throw a system together if she can read instructions.

Sonos, to me, is like apple. Overpriced and proprietary.

Or for the budget minded you can pick up a nice sized water resistant, rechargeable, Bluetooth speaker at Aldi and use your portable music device. Works great for our needs!

Blueooth transmitter and REcIEVER combo. Best buy and amazon have the sony for about $40, then pick up an amplified portable speaker. Well under $100 for the combo. Your tv should have an analog output that will hook directly into the BT transmitter.

SONOS is excellent, but big $$$ and not exactly portable, so if you have i climate weather your dragging the stuff inside. The portable speakers are really good now, especially in the $60 and up range.
