Pool moving water

My pool moves water great on recirculate setting, but once I put it on filter it barely moves any water. There is no pressure gage on my filter. What could be wrong?

I have back washed the filter. I have also sprayed sealant around all the joints in case of leaks. There is not even water moving through the glass "eye"

How long are you backwashing?

If the total time isn't in the 3-4 minute range, I'd consider backwashing that long. If you are already going that long or it doesn't help, you may want to follow the Deep Cleaning Your Sand Filter process.

Shocking Pool

Should I keep the pool setting on recirculate after adding shock to kill algae or keep it on filter?

Usually you should leave it on "filter" as you have to get it all out of the pool eventually.

Are you following the ShockLevelAndMAINTAIN Process using liquid chlorine? I get nervous when a newer member uses phrases like "adding shock" and "shocking the pool"

My response disappeared. I am new to this forum, so I am not familiar with the SLAM method. I typically only use shock chemicals at the very beginning to open the pool and then maintain with liquid bleach and baking soda. Unless I get too busy and let the pool get away from me.
