Pool pipe plumbing mismatch ????

My pool has 2 inch coming from the skimmer and the two main drains and 1 1/2 inch going on the Jets is that normal????? The pools was at the home before I moved in .. So is this normal practice. I'm thinking to switching over to a VS pump Ecostar. What should I use 2 inch or 1 1/2 for the filters and the return or leave it at alone ....

Well that is how mine is, I have 2 1/2 from the drain/skimmer and 1 1/2 from the dedicated vacuum port, and the return loop is all 1 1/2. I just recently re-plumbed my pad when i installed a new pump and filter, and asked a similar question on if I could use 2" or not. The answer was use the 2". On the equipment I purchased, it was all 2" ports so it was easier to not have to re-size everything at each port.
