Hi have a 15m x5 m in ground pool with desjoyaux bag filter system, just bought house and water green, I balanced ph alkaline ect level and shocked with peroxide on advice of pool shop filter left on 24/7. Algae gone after changing bags every couple of hours. Now left with clean but cloudy water. Ph levels all ok but chlorine level showing zero. Using clearing tablets that are not showing signs of working.
shop said not to add chlorine for 3 weeks after shock with peroxide other than tablets.

what can I do to clear water and raise chlorine levels.

Bonjour, and welcome to TFP! Here at TFP, we emphasize that the proper test kit is everything. Why? Because we've all learned (from personal experience) you cannot reply on pool store tests, test strips, or simple over-the-counter kits. They don't read Free Chlorine (FC) or Cyanuric Acid (CYA) levels accurately or to the high levels we need. You must order the correct test kit (see link below)

If your water has algae, running the filter 24/7 won't solve the problem. The algae needs to be killed permanently. You will need to "SLAM" (link below). SLAM is the term used when we “Shock” our pool to a higher “Level” of Free Chlorine (FC) and “Maintain” it that way until 3 objectives are met:
1. Water is clear
2. You do not lose any more than 1ppm of FC overnight (that's the OCLT)
3. CC (Combined Chlorine) is <.5
** You MUST meet ALL 3 items above to properly do a SLAM. Simply “spiking" the FC higher than normal isn't SLAMming, therefore there’s a good chance your algae will return.

Your first priority must be to order the proper test kit (TF-100 link below). Without that kit, we cannot provide the accurate advice you expect. But rest assured ... we can help you change that water from green to crystal clear.

PS - We raise chlorine levels primarily with regular liquid bleach.

Also, please add your pool info to your signature by going to the top of the TFP web page (just under the Pool School button) and select "SETTINGS". On the next page look to the left for a menu bar that says, “MY SETTINGS” and go to "EDIT SIGNATURE" to enter your pool and equipment info there. It will help us later.
