Forgot to put spacer back in DE filter after cleaning..

...and already loaded it up with DE. :grrrr: The part is #8 on this image.

It seems to be running fine without it, and I haven't seen this particular part on any of the tutorials that I've seen online about cleaning the filter. Can I run it as is until I need to backwash again?
Also the mesh on the breather tube assembly (part #9) is kind of raggedy. Should I replace that as well? Thanks!

I would think it was there for a reason. Not having experience with these I can't say what will happen.

It's there to keep the grid assembly from lifting off of the standpipe when backwashing. It should be ok while filtering. When you next need to backwash, disassemble and clean the grids and reinstall the spacer.
