pool store testing question

ok, I know what you are thinking, haha.

I have a TF-100 but, I want to check the salt level. is the pool store testing for salt at all reliable? I know the taylor kit is +/- 200ppm and the strips are more...but in reality, the salt doesn't need to be that accurate anyway but I want to get a ballpark. seems like a waste to drop $40 on the taylor kit for something I will use once or twice a year.

Thoughts?

I'd go with the cheap option for home testing. TFTestkits.net They're good enough for what you need.

All the tests are +/-400ppm I think ... I prefer having the Taylor kit myself (which is not $40) so I know the testing in consistent and I can see trends.

Strips just for Salt are OK, but I'm with Blizzle on this. If it's worth knowing the cost is not a waste at all.

It's 26.50 at Tftestkits, so not sure where you saw it was
$40.

Even the Aquacheck strips are relatively accurate at $14. They work by capillary action so are not bound to the same color match crud-shoot as other test strips.

Not to take any sales away from TFT, but you can usually get the same ones locally if the price is right.

I got the strips and found them for $9 shipped. plus or minus 400 should be fine

well...those strips say my salt is at 600ppm...lol. so, back for refund and getting they taylor test
