    Selecting pump and filter

What pump and filter size it is necesary for a 21,500 gallons in ground pool with 45 feet of 1 1/2" return line and 25 feet of 1 1/2" suction line? Room equipment is is located 9 feet below pool water level at the maximun pool depth of 6 feet.

My pool is an in ground pool, kidney shape, made out of plaster/pebble tile cover, remodel a year ago. Its capacity is around the 21,500 gallons; it is located in a warm city. The local temperatures are pretty stable all year round, ranging from the sixties to the lower nineties during the summer. The pool is being used mainly for weekends, for just a few people.

    Welcome to TFP!!!

Not 100% sure about the pump sizing given the "depth" of the pool equipment.
But likely a 1HP pump would be sufficient ... not sure if a 2-speed of VS pump would make sense given the required 9' rise.

For minimum filter sizes I would suggest:
    325 sqft cartridge or
    27" diameter sand or
    60 sqft DE

The depth of the pool equipment really doesn't have an impact on the pump performance in this case. If anything it makes priming easier so you could use an AG pump if you wanted to. However, like an AG pool, you need isolation valves so you can open the pump basket.
