Welcome to TFP Bronco!
You can only change it by adding water with less CH in it. You have to remove the old and replace with the new. As water evaporates, it leaves CH behind, so it builds up over time when you add hard water. A form of Chlorine (Calcium Hypochlorite) can also add CH to the water, so be aware of that.
