A lot of times those valves get bound up inside which causes the handle to break. They are the source of a lot of cussing. If you replace the valves, get the Jandy Never-Lube. The price will shock you, but you won't regret it.

Valve is working ok now. Was dry as I just opened pool a couple of weeks ago. I read if the ball valve is dry it may be harder to turn. I'm using a wrench for now
