    Sand on my driveway

When I backwash my sand filter for my in ground pool, I have noticed small amounts of sand accumulating at the exit hose which drains onto my driveway. What is the fix?

    Define "small amounts".

There's going to be some sand blown out along with all the crud and debris, but it shouldn't be nearly enough to impact the effectiveness of your filter.

Sounds normal to me. On backwash, everything gets churned up pretty good. and it doesn't have to pass through the slits in the laterals. Check out some of the cutaway pictures in this thread to see.

Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!
