skimbi and vacuum hose

I purchased the skimbi for my intex pool, when I hook up my vacuum to this do I have to fill the vacuum hose with water, and what do I set my pump to waste or filter or what? thanks in advance

Filter. Unless you want to drain some water out of the pool.

Do I fill the hose with water?

Yes. And it has to sit a little below the surface or the pump will suck air, lose prime, and overheat. I'd just connect the fittings to the pump inlet, attach the skimbi to the wall and adjust the height so it gets flooded with water, and then jam the hose on. Takes longer to type than to do, most likely.
