OK so I gave a 30 foot above ground pool. I moved in to this house and the pool was never covered. I have never had a pool. I mistakingly added chlorine before fixing the ph. Now my ph is high and I added a half gallon of muriatic acid. Pool is cloudy and tinted green. Should I have vacuumed it first? How at this point do I lower ph? It isn't lowering. Thanks.

First, how are you testing your water?
Your PH may be much higher than 8 and this is why it is not lowering.
Can you post a full set of numbers if you have them?

How much chlorine did you add? It could be skewing your pH test.
I will kindly suggest just slowing down, and taking a little step at a time. If you can answer AZgirl's questions it will be a good place to start.

I suggest picking up a TF-100 test kit and following the advice of the knowledgeable folks on this site. You'll be splashing it up in your pool before you know it!
Just to clarify here, the pH test can read falsely high at FC (chlorine) levels over 10ppm
