Any Way to Free Up Pentair 2000 Backwash Valve?

Mine takes some serious tugging, too. I imagine there must be a way to disassemble it and lube it, but I've never cared enough to look. When you get done and the tank is full again, shut the pump off and move it back and forth a few times to dislodge any grit that might be caught in there. Sometimes I get a drip but opening and closing it a few times and letting the water gravity feed and wash it clean stops it.
