How much?

Question on bleach. After I stabilize my pool water how often will I need to add the bleach and how much? For example 1 gallon a day? I know I have to test the water every day and calculate using PoolMath but on average how often do you guys add it? Just trying to find how much it will cost me over summer to pay for the bleach.

I add every day. Once stabilized, figure 2 - 4 ppm per day loss.

Lots of variables to answer that question accurately but I roughly use a quart of 10% daily.

Same here - anywhere between 1-2 quarts per day once my pool is cruising-along balanced for the season.

Okay. So basically a lot of bleach neede. Will it be cheaper to order a large quantity?

I get about 3.5 days from a jug of Wal-mart bleach. That's 84 cents per day (roughly...I'm not a numbers person). I usually keep enough on hand for a couple of weeks.

My pool looks to be roughly the same size as yours. On average, I add about a quart of 12.5% every day. On a day I have a party and there is a high bather load, I'll use a bit more. When I need bleach, I take my 3 five gallon containers (which I paid a $7 deposit on each) to my pool builders store and I stock up on 15 gallons of 12.5%. Those 3 containers cost me $45 and they last me for about a month and a half to two months depending on how much use my pool gets.
