New Build - Filter Recommendations

I'm planning a 15,000 IGP for my SW Florida home. I'm leaning towards a cartridge filter but haven't ruled out a sand or DE filter either. I've read on this board that I should oversize the filter but I'm not even sure were to start.

My PB prefers Hayward or Jandy so I think I have it narrowed down to those two brands. I do plan on adding a Hayward AquaRite T15 chlorine generator so I'm thinking a staying with Hayward unless someone has a better suggestion.

So if I stayed with Hayward what size cartridge, sand, and DE filter would I need? Part or model numbers would be great! Suggestion on filter type would also be appreciated!

Since I'm in Florida, this pool will be run continuously.

Thanks in advance!

Since you are in FL, I would suggest you check and see if here is any local regulation against discharge of DE if you are considering a DE filter. Some places have restrictions if the local storm drains lead to ecologically sensitive areas, others have restrictions due to waste water processing techniques which can be clogged up by discharged DE.

Here is an article in Pool School comparing filters.

I have a cartridge filter, it can be a pain to clean. An hour plus, 4 times this spring due to extremely high pollen and tree activity. If I ever get a new filter it will be sand. Never had DE but it sure seems a lot messier than the other two.

In the end, with TFPC any filter will give you perfectly clear water.
