Hey guys, I have a Jandy valve for my skimmer. As I stand by the skimmer basket I watch as some debris floats past as some gets sucked into the skimmer. If the debris is hugging the wall it will go into the skimmer. If it's 2 or 3 inches away, it floats by. Now, when the pool was installed 10 years ago, the pool guy said to never open the valve more than a 1/4 of the way. I probably should have questioned this before, but lately I've been getting a lot od bugs that make their way to the bottom. So, my question is, should/could I open the valve all the way to allow for more suction? As it appears the MD is only for circulation.

I probably have 85% of my suction to the skimmer. The main drain is mostly just to eliminate the temperature stratification.
I put it to full drain when I'm brushing, so that as stuff settles, it hopefully gets pulled in there.
