I have no leaks in the pluming, good flow from both skimmer and bottom drain, and a good seal on basket lid. Pump itself is dry and sounds perfect. Still can't keep prime in pump basket. Water level is between impeller opening and lid. Any suggestions?

Air is almost certainly getting into the pump from somewhere on the suction side of the plumbing. The obvious places to check include the basket lid seal (sounds like you checked that one), and a vortex forming in the skimmer drawing air down into the system. After that you need to start looking for air leaks in the suction side plumbing, which gets a bit more complex. There is an article in Pool School that goes into this in more detail.
