Question about pool light in deep end

The previous owner states that the light hasn't worked in some time. It is mounted in the deep end. I noticed the outer gasket that is attached to the actual globe part is all brittle and broken. Then there is a "plate" up against the wall. I could care less if the light works. I am just curious if it can leak with the outer gasket busted or if it would have to be the flat plate that is against the vinyl wall.

The pool light is designed not to leak regardless of the gasket condition.......no worries.
