How much water loss is normal?

I expect water loss from evaporation of course, but I fell like I'm topping off my pool quite a bit. No one swam this whole week and while I didn't measure exactly I think I lost about an inch of water, maybe more. It didn't rain this week and it does get sun the entire day. My pool surface area is 18x 40 approximately. (Not a perfect rectangle).

If you have strong sun or high wind the evaporation may be a little more, but I think around and inch per week is normal. You can do a bucket test if you want to rule out a possible leak.

I know nothing about the company tagged at the end of this video, but the demonstration of the bucket test is good.
