Main Filter Pump not working - Help please!

I was gone for 2 days and returned to find my main filter pump is not working. Everything was fine when I left.

Cleaned all baskets, opened and cleaned filter cartridges.

Impellers are spinning, pumps runs for 5 seconds and then shuts offs. I tried replacing the pump start capacitor but that did not help. Pump makes a buzzing sound and gets quite hot with a little smell while is is on for those few seconds.

Since I opened the system I did try to pour in several buckets of water but this did not seem to change much of the outcome.

Appreciate your input - Please help!

Thanks

Rawlins

Buzzing, gets hot, and smell (assuming electrical type smell) it sounds like your motor windings are failing. If they are, your only recourse is to replace the motor. The reason for the shutdown is the thermal overload is tripping. When it cools off, it resets.
