Coping is lifting away from the ground (in-ground pool)

I have been able to solve countless pool issues with the help of good folks on this site, both to my treads and to, in many, many other instances, thread discussions in general. Now I have a stumper.

For two summers, and now heading into a third, a single area of the pool is affected by the coping lifting up and away from the ground. It has lifted, in total, a bit more than two inches. There is separation between the concrete and the coping solely in this area. The rest of the coping all around the pool lays flat. The area is proximate to the skimmer location, as the attached photograph shows.

What could be causing this? Should I be worried?
