Hi Everyone!
We just opened our inground concrete pool, and noticed about 25 tiles fell off. Also noticed cracks in the tile around the skimmers and a few on the other side of the pool. We live in the cold northeast, and it was a brutal winter. Also, the pool company we used stopped pumping water out of the pool when closing it, said they didn't do that anymore, never had any problems. Should have been a red flag, I know. Anyway our pool is 11 yrs old now. Never had a problem. Have had two pool guys come out. They also say the brick coping has a hollow sound when tapped along the side of the pool. Anyway, they recommend replacing the tile and coping.5500 price tag, which seems high. Any thoughts? Why does the coping have a hollow sound, where did the mortar go? Is it from water freezing or bad install? Is it reasonable to just repair the missing tile, lower the water from now on at closing, and buy time until I have to replaster and just do it all at once? Help!
