Borate and FC

Hello,

Normaly my FC goal is 1 to 3 ppm

I read using borate prevent algea.
If i use borate, should my FC goal could be lower?

Welcome to TFP!!!

Borates are completely optional and do not affect the recommended FC level.

You need to know your CYA level as that determines what FC level you should be maintaining: See the FC/CYA Chart

I asked the question because a friend use this thing

And the pool dealer told to maintain FC to 0.6 ppm because the machin prevent algea forment

I supposed borate could do the samething

With a little search, you will see what we thing about the Nature 2 ... hint, not good.
Mineral systems also do not lower the FC level we recommend. While they may help prevent algae (at the risk of green hair and pool staining), they do not protect people from disease.
