Sand In the Pool

I just opened my pool and after a day of running my pump I notice sand in the bottom of my pool. The only place this could have come from is my filter. What could this be an indicator of? A need for a new pump, time to replace the sand, general maintenance needed, or something else?

Can you update your signature with your pool and equipment information please?

There can be various reasons for the sand entering the pool. Did you backwash? If so did you rinse long enough? How much sand are we talking about?

It is a water way 100 filter I believe. I did backwash and I did rinse for approx 15-20 sec. The amount of sand was in the middle of the pool and was approx 2 feet in diameter I do not know how deep the sand pile was.
