solar panel install question

Without knowing the number and size of the panels it is hard to double check your math, did you account for head loss in the filter?

p.s. note not all pumps are the same on their head curves, some of the same HP have 30% or more upper end head, at the expense of lower max flow numbers at low head

If you have 15 psi of head loss in the filter (a fairly common dirty filter number) this equals about 34 ft of pressure side head loss, that you will need to add to your actual lift loss. (this will give you a ballpark figure anyway, actual performance is harder to calculate since filter backpressure varies with flow)

You would be better off with the flapper check valves like Jandy makes.

The VRV can go just about anywhere. Mine is on the bottom of the panels where the water enters, or you could put it at the very top, or you could even put it down by the filter.

They usually screw in, not sure the thread size off hand. You can just get a Tee with a threaded middle port or a regular Tee and put an adapter in the middle port to give you the right threads.

BTW, I think most VRVs, usually want to be mounted vertically.
