Should I open my pool If I am away for long

Hello Friends,

I would like to get your advise on , if i should open my pool this year. I am going to be traveling for about 3 weeks when the pool would be unattended.
In case I open the pool is it ok to leave it unattended for 3 or more weeks.
In case I do not open the pool do I still need to do any maintenance to make sure it is ok throughout the year into the next season.

Welcome to the forum!

If you have absolutely no one to monitor the pool and add what it need while you are gone I woluld delay the opening understanding that you will have work ahead of you when you do open it.

You will most probably have to follow the SLAM Process to clear the pool once you open. To quote Richard "A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!"
 
I would not open it if you are going to be away for that long. My pool is about as easy as they come and I would not think about it unless I added an acid pump and a few other parts. Not knowing the specifics of your pool it is hard to say for sure but at face value I would not.
