CYA appears to be 100-130. Result by test strip. Also pool store reading of 120. Texas and a lot of rain. I am scared to drain half of pool. Can I gradually lower with water changes? Drop it 2 feet say? And refill.
Yes, replacing 2' of water at a time is fine. You can even add water at the same time you are draining water from the other side of the pool. Either of these is just slightly less efficient in their use of water than doing it all at once, but far far safer for your pool.
