what do my tests tell me

I just bought a test kid waiting for the one y'all recommend to come in. Can anyone tell me my findings? This is my first one.

My ph is about 8.5
Chlorine levels are perfect
Bromine is 4.6
Acid demand took 3 drops times 12000 gallons (added a 1/2 cup)
Alkanility 130ppm

Any advice will help. I'm sick of the pinch a penny.

What test kit did you get?
Certainly does not appear to be one of the Recommended Test Kits.

You do not have bromine in your pool.

The only thing this tells us is that your pH is too high and should be lowered back into the 7s.

A chlorine level of "perfect" is not very helpful. And to know what FC level is good requires knowing what your CYA level is.

I got one at home depot today. The chlorine WaS 2.5. If my ph is to high is that what the acid does to lower it?

You really have to get some basics out of the way. read "The ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry" up in Pool School. That'll tell you what each parameter we test for does and it will tell you the ranges in which they need to be kept.
