I needed a custom cap stone for my fountain 8' circle . The price was almost a grand . So I am making my own with foam and a cement shell like effis or stucco ... 1st cut rigid insulation board

It will look like a poured in place counter top ,except not as strong . Not as much work

All 4 pieces are made with 2 coats . I will start the finish coat today.

I noticed as the pieces get heavier. the joint I cut in the middle of each piece becomes a weak point and they could break in two if I am not careful

Is the concrete strong enough you could sit on one when installed or would you smash it?

you could sit on . But not hit with a hammer

If you wanted it to be durable . For sitting, I would add a layer of cement board, but I was going for cheap and quick

This stucco is a rough surface . But it helps hides the imperfections
