Cleaning Drain

I have 2 drains that look like this. Anyone have any tips on how to clean out the junk that gets stuck between the ribs? I've run my 4WD over it about 10 times and gets about half. Brushing won't budge the stuff (probably mostly small oak nuts). Other than waiting for water to warm and diving down with a screw driver (my normal method).

Yea, those are the kind of projects I take on when the water is warmer. Time to test my SCUBA gear.
