When I turn on heater and press heat spa button heater ignites the temp stays at 71 but does not heat spa?

We need more information. Like what sort of equipment you have. I just saw our other post where it only says Master Temp as your heater type. Please add the specifics here.

I assume you have set the heater so it's target temperature is higher than 71 degrees?
Do you have a heater bypass? If there is a bypass and it is currently setup to bypass the heater, that would prevent the heater from working correctly.

What does a heater bypass look like,is it equipment connected to my heater or is it like a computer command I could have accidently initiated from controll panel?
A heater bypass is plumbing external to the heater which can be set (with a valve) to route water through the heater or past the heater. If you are unsure a photo of the plumbing connected to the heater would make it very clear.
