    Activated Charcoal

Wouldn't activated charcoal remove impurities from the water if one had a big bag of it in the skimmer?

Would it remove cya, chlorine, calcium and other such things as the water passed over it?

Unfortunately, it does the opposite of what one needs in a pool....it removes chlorine and DOESN'T remove coliform...recipe for disaster

It will remove chlorine, which is not desirable. Some have used charcoal on the water supply side.

    Re: Activated Charcoal

It would also saturate very quickly and need to be reactivated before it could be used again. So it is totally impractical, even if it did something useful.
