New AG pool plumbing and equipment

So, I love this site and have been reading and rereading for almost 2 years I know I have alot of questions, just trying to get it right the first time..

I need some help with plumbing and equipment, below is the equipment I am going to be installing. I want to plumb this as if it was inground and use 2 inch pipe for everything. All pipe will be buried between pool and pad and solar. Is there aditional equipment I need?

I plan to use the union ball valve between each piece of equipment, that way if I need to change out anything I can shut off the flow and replace.

How do I go from 1.5" inch skimmer designed for flex hose to 2 inch pipe then back to 1.5" into the pump? (is it better to just use 1.5" pipe?)
Whats the best way to then go 1.5" from pump to 2 inch filter? is it best to use 1.5 to 2 inch Jandy valve in between pump and filter?
Stay 2 inch from filter to 3 way jandy valve for solar and salt system.
2 inch to solar with ball valve and union to set flow.
    2 inch to salt system
2 inch return to pool from salt system ( how do I go from 2" back down to 1.5" return through wall)
seperate 2 inch return from solar, what is the best way to install this pipe? ( http://www.h2otsun.com/pools/ )
Should I have 2 skimmers and 3 returns or 1 skimmer and 2 returns?

Thank you all for any assistance with this... Can you say "steap learning curve" I can

I will warn you. Ball valves love to seize up. Jandy valves FTW

The more junctions, the more potential leak locations... I'm 93% sure there are PVC bits that convert 1.5'' to 2'' and back...

    example: http://www.amazon.com/Sch-PVC-DWV-Re.../dp/B000BPG5QM

I have no solid opinion on the wise/unwise nature of such a thing. Others will be here shortly.

I'd eliminate the ball valves from your setup. I'd Use Jandy valves to separate your pool from your equipment pad....if you need to R&R any piece of equipment. I'd also use the twist on junctions only where necessary. They leak 330x more frequently than glued junctions.

I really like the Jandy check valves too. (I think they are jandy... they are rebuildable like the jandy valves)

Re: New AG pool plumbing and equipment

You just need to use a 1.5"/2" adapter to switch between the sizes. A trip to the hardware store and playing with all the fittings should clear things up. No issues with dropping the size when you need to.

Usually one skimmer is plenty, if it is on the downwind side of the pool. A second one can be helpful if you winds shift. For the returns, I am not sure it would make a hole lot of difference between 2 or 3 jets in a circular pool.

If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that I will not open a zip file from someone I don't know

Why not just post the picture or attach the regular file?

Re: New AG pool plumbing and equipment

That is entirely an excessive number of unions. Why do you think you need so many?

At most I would think you would need 1 union in front of the pump, 1 between the pump and filter, 1 after the filter (and the SWG has unions, so probably do not need this one).

You should put the SWG right after the filter before the 3-way so that you get FC to the pool when you are running the solar panels too.

Re: New AG pool plumbing and equipment

    I tend to overkill things

The SJ 45 SWG does not have any unions, just a clear case, so I really want 2 on there just in case.. Also, I read to have the SWG the last thing in the pipe so gas does not build up and blow the pool up.. that would suck..

There are 2 unions on the pump and 2 on the filter already, So I am really only adding the 2 before and after the jandy valves, do you think I should just not use them?

    Thanks for the help

Re: New AG pool plumbing and equipment

Well, unions are one place where leaks can easily develop so I would not recommend so many.

I now see that SWG design, still not sure I see the need for unions on both sides.

OH!!! yeah I was not think regarding the SWG and the solar. Usually the solar is plumbed before the SWG and goes to the pool at the same return jet ... yours a little different. I hope your SWG will have enough flow when the solar is running.

There is no reason to add unions before and after the Jandy valves ... I don't think you need any that are not already part of the pump and filter. They are easy to add in the future if you do happen to need one.
