Hello, brand new member here. This is my second year with a pool, my wife and I moved into her mothers home last year at which time I took over the pool maintenance from the company that was charging a brick of gold a month to maintain. Last year went fairly well with the exception of one instance of cloudiness and then one almost green coloring event. I got those under control and kept a pretty clear pool the rest of the summer. There was no cover in place this winter so I fished out leaves and debris as best I could and the large debris is now all gone. The water still has a lot of fine particulate floating in it and is quite cloudy. Last year I was relying on the hardware store to test and advise which consisted of lots of smart shock and muratic acid but I'd like to move to the TFP method this year. I have just ordered the test kit I saw recommended here. So I'm guessing I need to run my filter 24/7 until the water clears first and then start balancing chemicals. I have heard that a skimmer sock is a good idea to help as well, the water just has sooo many tiny floating particles in it. Also I've been running the Dolphin cleaner as well and I think all the silt and leaf debris is out (cant see the bottom to tell). I will add more detail to my signature as soon as I get home from work to get them. I'm sorry if I've left out any pertinent info, just asked and I will fill in the gaps. Thanks for any advice.
