Does my pool have a leak? Temporary cover on but water has dropped two feet

I have a temporary cover on my inground gunite pool. It has a pump on top and has been covered since mid-November. I live in the Philly area. The water level appears to have dropped about two feet. I am now wondering if this is typical with a temporary cover and any other thoughts you might have.

No this is not typical. Something is leaking, but probably not the pool. The most likely possibility is that the cover has a leak and the cover pump is slowly pumping out the pool. Of course it could be the pool, but the cover is more likely.

Okay. thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed. The pump has been situated in the same location the entire winter season.
