    Quartz finish-cleaning stains

Our pool has developed some large black, brown areas of ground in dirt on the Quartz finish. No amount of brushing seems to help. What suggestions do you have?

    Hi Marty,

Its really hard to make a recommendation without knowing a lot more info. More specifically, what type of pool you have (plaster, vinyl, fiberglass- etc and as importantly what your water parameters are. The water parameters can tell us a lot about what is going on with your pool.

You can help us out a little bit by creating a signature that will show up on all your posts.
Under the Pool School Button at the top of page, Click on SETTINGS
Look at left side of page and scroll down until you see EDIT SIGNATURE. Click that, and fill in your specifics, then click SAVE.

Seldom do pools of any sort get ground in dirt. However calcium scaling in a plaster pool is a browish color and certainly looks like ground in dirt.

My best recommendation is to procure a very reliable water test kit, test the water and report back with test results. The test kits we most trust are the TF100 and the Taylor K2006. Either of them can be obtained at the TF100 is the best bang for the buck.
FWIW, Pool Store is notorioiusly unreliable and you just cannot trust them. That's why we recommend doing your own water testing. A good test kit is the best investment you can make for your pool.

Not a lot of immediate help I know, but without knowing the chemistry levels, its just impossible to make a valid analysis of whats happening in there.
