Question for Plaster Pool Owners

Question is how much mottling is normal and inherent for a plaster pool? Ours was replastered with white plaster 3 weeks ago and we still have a creamy beige mottling throughout (floors and walls). I'm reading online, and have been told conflicting opinions about how long plaster takes to cure and if mottling is inevitable and normal. Any plaster pool owners out there who can chime in with their experiences? Thanks!

Some mottling is inevitable, but it is rarely objectionable with lighter plaster colors. When you have a dark plaster color it tends to be far more obvious.

It is difficult to describe how much is normal, as it does not photograph well.

If it is bothering you, you should certainly talk to your builder or plasterer and see what they recommend/can do for you.

We got a grey plaster done and we had a lot of mottling and chalking. Pool contractor said it was normal until I started checking the chemicals, since they were doing. Found out the start up was not being done/monitored correctly. He ended up having our pool polished and, although it looked a lot better, it's still not quite right . You may want to start with documenting the water chems. Good Luck
