Why can't I see all threads?

I am only able to see a limited number of threads. For instance the "under construction" section states there are 5805 threads, but I am only able to see 2 pages worth of around 50 threads.

Towards the bottom of any topic list there is a setting that controls how far back you can see. That setting gets forgotten, there is another one in your personal Settings menu that is permanent (for your account).
