About to close on a new house. With a pool!

    Hi everyone,

I'm Joe from Central Florida, we are just about to buy a house with our first pool. I have read and re-read the everything in the "pool school," and watched a lot of videos on YouTube. Without this website I would be a pawn of the pool store!

I bought a Taylor K-2006, and some borate test strips in preparation for taking over the pool.

You're well on your way then. That's a good kit for normal maintenance. If the pool needs adjusting in the CYA department or has algae issues, you may need more reagents than the standard K-2006 kit has but those are pretty easy to find if you need them. tftestkits.net is a great place for reagents with quick delivery in the US.

Thanks Joel, I have a feeling I will be ordering that larger bottle of CYA reagent sooner rather then later.

Sure sounds like you way WAY ahead of a typical new member. Very refreshing.

How does the gauge look on the filter? If you are ordering refills from tftestkits, I highly recommend the glycerin gauges that they also sell ... combine to reduce shipping. Also, the SpeedStir is well worth the investment.

When do you get to close and get hands-on?

We close before the end of the year, hopefully 12/27/14. The pressure gauge on the filter is broken, one of the first things I need to do is replace it.

Yes, you might, and that's one reason we suggest the TF100. You get a lot more bang for the buck with more of the exact same reagent.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on getting control of your pool early. SO many come later with issues to fix.

Not quite closed yet, the bank claims this week.

I want to sneak over to get a water sample, I'm very excited about taking over my own pool.
